TCL NXTPAPER Q&A
What is TCL NXTPAPER?
TCL NXTPAPER technology fine tunes the LED blue light spectrum, allowing the blue light range to remain between the safe 457 to 462.5nm band. This reduces harmful blue light by 61%, keeping the beneficial blue light while allowing the red, blue and green primary colors to maintain the color balance. This ensures visuals don't take on a yellow hue, keeping the original color temperature while protecting the health of users and ensuring the best viewing experience. Furthermore, this technology has earned the TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light Certification.

What's new with NXTPAPER 4.0?

It changes how we engage with digital content, providing high-quality visuals with a focus on health-centered technology.

What is blue light & what kind of blue light is harmful to vision?
Blue light is part of the visible light spectrum – what the human eye can see. Vibrating within the 380 to 500 nanometer range, it has the shortest wavelength and highest energy. About one-third of all visible light is considered blue light.

According to the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), the definition of the harmful blue light range falls between 415-455nm. Nevertheless, it's worth noting that the beneficial blue light (460-500nm) plays a crucial role in regulating human circadian rhythm.

How does NXTPAPER achieve anti-glare?
While NXTPAPER specialized chemical etching creates a nano-level roughness which produces a paper-like matte effect texture and provides resistance. This scatters the internal light source while also diffusing reflection of external light to reduce glare for outdoor reading. Moreover, similar to real paper, this nano-level uneven surface increases the friction of the nib of a stylus, making the writing experience feel more realistic. And with that surface, the NXTPAPER display delivers a matte tactile feel, protecting against smudges or fingerprints.

How does the NXTPAPER display avoid reflection and glare in the sunlight?
The sunlight screen uses a light sensor to measure brightness levels. When the ambient brightness exceeds a certain threshold, the sunlight screen mode is activated, causing the screen brightness to instantly increase. This provides the best possible reading display in bright outdoor conditions (up to 500 nits for TCL NXTPAPER 11). Additionally, supported by AG (anti-glare) technology, NXTPAPER ensures the screen remains clear and visible even in sunlight, enhancing the visual experience.

I already own a tablet/e-reader. Why is NXTPAPER different enough for me to buy another instead of a screen filter?
Traditional E-book readers tend to focus solely on offering a paper-like reading experience, but NXTPAPER tablets offer much more. As an Android-powered device, NXTPAPER tablets not only deliver vibrant, colorful visuals but also provide access to a wide ecosystem of apps and services, including web browsing and video streaming. NXTPAPER tablets bring together the best of tablet and e-reader functionality into one versatile device.

What is TÜV & why are TÜV certifications so important?
TÜV Rheinland stands for safety and quality. Founded more than 150 years ago, the company is one of the world’s leading testing service providers. TÜV certifications are important as they show a product has met specific quality, safety, and performance standards established by this renowned and independent testing and certification organization.

Working with TÜV involves submitting the product for evaluation and testing according to the relevant standards and requirements. The TÜV experts assess the product's performance, safety features, and compliance with applicable regulations. If the product successfully meets all the criteria, it is awarded the TÜV certification, which can then be displayed or referenced to demonstrate its adherence to the established standards.

TCL Mobile was among the first mobile phone manufacturers to become TÜV Rheinland certified in 2021 and has consistently ensured the brand’s devices achieve the certification since.
